The 2023 NBA Draft picture got a lot clearer this week. First, the completion of the play-in tournament finalized the teams who will participate in the draft lottery. Then, the league office announced the tie-breakers via random drawings for the six teams that finished with identical regular season records. So, this is the perfect time for the first 247Sports mock NBA draft. Although the official order won’t be determined until lottery night on May 16, we can still use the lottery odds to project where the ping pong balls will fall (though there are always a few surprises). While our big boards are a reflection of our personal evaluations as scouts, mock drafts are designed to be representative of what we expect each team to do. With the draft still more than two months away, there is a lack of reliable intel. So this first iteration of the mock draft should be viewed as: “What we think each team should do based on the information that is currently available.”
